DK enters Mr. Trunk’s second-grade classroom feeling ready for bigger work. First grade taught him that practice can turn frustration into progress, and now he is eager to show how much he knows. But second grade does not simply ask for more answers. It asks DK to read between the lines, explain why an idea makes sense, solve problems with several possible starting points, and make decisions before an adult tells him exactly what to do.
